Wing Walking!

Hello hello!

I have had the best day today!! My 21st present from my family (my Birthday was back in October) was to go Wing walking, for those of you who don’t know what that is, it is when you stand on top of an aeroplane while it flies! To most people that sounds like the worst possible thing to want to do, but to me just GREAT FUN!!

So after months of waiting for the Wing walking season, as it were, my day finally arrived! Mum drove me to Chiltern Park Aerodrome where the flight would take place. There I was given a quick briefing and then introduced to my amazing pilot, Mike Dentith. I hopped up onto the wing, was strapped in and away we went!

Honestly it was the best 10minutes experience ever! I loved every second! So many dives and steep climbs and most of all incredible ‘birds eye’ views. If I was allowed I would have stayed up there all day! All I can say is thank goodness the engine was loud, because I laughed and screamed for every second of the flight!

I would recommend this to absolutely everyone, it really was just incredible, not at all scary, and something I will never forget!

Have a great rest of the weekend! I have also created a video of my experience…click HERE TO WATCH IT NOW!!

Tough Mudder Half

Hello hello,

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone, hope you all have a lovely day!

So, my friends and I did a Tough Mudder Half last Saturday which was the best fun ever! We were probably not in the best of states to be doing it though as we had our Sports Awards dinner the night before, so a few of the team were a little hungover….and nearly everyone in the team had an injury or were decently unfit. SO, with that we named the team ‘Team Invalids’. I was told by my physio that I could definitely NOT do the event…and usually I would listen, but this time I just really didn’t want to miss out! Despite our injuries and levels of fitness, we completed the challenge and loved every second! My favourite obstacle has to be ‘Mud Mile’ where you walk through the most ridiculous amount of mud, and of course this had to lead to a mud fight!

I have always wanted to do a Tough Mudder and it did not disappoint, in fact I loved it so much that I have signed up to do a full Tough Mudder in August!

For anyone that has been wanting to do one but doesn’t feel like they can, really and truly you can, our whole team were crippled with injuries before we even started, most of us unfit and none of us had actually trained for the event, so if we can complete it like that, then anyone can!

I have made a little video of the whole course, so please go and check it out by clicking HERE. Sadly you can only view it on a laptop…trying to figure out why that is! Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Heavenly weekend at home!

Hello hello

So last weekend (i.e. the weekend that we have just had) I was meant to be running the Bath half marathon, but sadly due to my torn ligament in my ankle I had to pull out. My ankle is starting to get stronger, but can only manage about a 10k run before it starts to buckle so there was no chance it would survive a half marathon!

The best thing to come out of not doing it was getting to spend the most heavenly weekend at home walking the dogs, being with the horses and spending some time with my grandparents.

This is without a doubt my favourite sort of weekend. I spent it grooming my horse (who I can’t ride at the moment because he is injured), playing with the foals and walking the dogs and just generally relaxing and de stressing after a very long week! On Sunday it was the most horrendous weather but it made for a very fun dog walk, both of them came back sopping wet and seriously muddy, which was fine until they shook all over the white walls in the house…oops!

Here are a few pictures from my weekend! Have a great week everyone!

Triple chocolate, salted caramel, marshmallow Brownies!

I have always LOVED baking, whether it’s following someones recipe or making up my own I just love it! I currently bake every Tuesday night for our lacrosse matches on Wednesday and last night I baked some rocky roads and then some brownies.

I completely experimented with these brownies and have created the most gooey yummy treats! I’ve always said I’d love to be a female Willy Wonka because some of my chocolate creations are way over the top chocolatey and binge worthy and I experiment with combinations that shouldn’t  work together but they just do!

Tanya Burr inspires me all the time with her incredible recipes, I think I have actually baked everything in her book and everything is completely delicious, so these brownies were inspired by her but I expanded on her take and made them my own.

Here is the recipe:

200g butter
300g dark chocolate (I like to use Bournville Dark Chocolate)
300g golden caster sugar (or normal caster sugar is fine too)
4 eggs
A drop of vanilla extract
160g plain flour
60g cocoa powder
1 tin Carnation caramel (I often use a little more than one tin)
Sea salt
100g Marshmallows
150g white chocolate chips
150g Milk chocolate chips

To start with you need to preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tin with greaseproof paper.
Now for the fun part! I’m a very lazy baker and I don’t like to wash up lots of pans and bowls etc. so I will only ever use one pan in this whole process.
Get your pan and put it on the scales and set to zero, then way out your butter and dark chocolate and melt in the pan. I know a lot of people say to do it in a bowl over simmering water but this works perfectly too, just make sure you keep stirring so the chocolate doesn’t burn.
Next take the pan off the heat and stir in the sugar, leave the mixture to cool for a little bit before adding in your eggs as you don’t want them to curdle. Once cool, add in the four eggs and stir until the mixture becomes smooth.
Put the pan back on the scales and set to zero.
Next way out your flour and cocoa powder and fold that into the mixture, being careful not to knock out too much air!
Get your prepared baking tray and pour in half the mixture (dont worry if it doesn’t cover the whole pan to start with, it will by the end!
Sprinkle evenly half the white chocolate chips over the mixture.
Spread the caramel evenly over this.
Sprinkle the caramel with some sea salt, I use quite a lot, but it’s personal preference.
Next get your marshmallows and evenly spread these over the caramel
Lastly get the rest of the white chocolate chips and sprinkle these over the top of the marshmallows.
Now pour the other half of the mixture over the top and spread it evenly.
Lastly get the milk chocolate chips and sprinkle these over the top to finish it off.
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, you may need to leave them in a little longer.
When they come out they may look VERY gooey but leave them to cool for a couple of hours and they should be absolutely fine.

My new favourite toy!

Hello hello!

Hope you have all had a lovely week!

EEEEEK so I have just bought something that I am very excited about and have wanted for SO long! Many of you will know I absolutely LOVE photography, whether it’s taking pictures of my family, my dogs, trees, landscapes, whatever I just love it! Over the past couple of years I have also become obsessed with writing a diary and trying to do a photo a day with my writing. This year my resolution is to 100% do a photo a day that either reflects my mood, or maybe just a picture of what happened! Today my picture was of my brand new camera! Ok so it’s not a smart, brand new, top of the range high quality camera, but it is one that I have wanted for ages to keep a fun log of my life…a polaroid camera! I actually really wanted a proper film camera, but sadly they don’t sell those easily and they are very expensive, so I thought I would start with a polaroid! It is amazing, I haven’t actually taken a picture yet as I haven’t had the chance, but I cannot wait to start using it tomorrow! It also gives me an excuse to start up yet ANOTHER album/scrapbook…I have SO many!

I wanted to write this post, first because I am so excited about my camera, but secondly to maybe inspire you guys to start documenting your life. I know there are a lot of bloggers and vloggers out there who like to document their life online. However, there are also so many people (you may be one of them) that would rather keep your life private (I don’t blame you!) but this shouldn’t stop you from keeping a log of your life even if it’s just for you!

I am extremely lucky that my parents filmed and photographed literally every second of our lives from the moment we were born until now/they still haven’t stopped. So we have endless albums and DVDs of our childhood which are just SO special to look back on, and I honestly can’t thank my parents enough for putting in that time and effort! I know a lot of families that don’t have anything to look back on and I just find that so sad..there are only so many memories we can fit into our brains, and sometimes the smallest ones can be forgotten. This is why I have started to write, take pictures and videos of everything  I do, I even write down any dreams I can remember…they can be really strange to read back!

The reason I do all of this is not only for me to look back on in years to come, but also for my children and grandchildren in the future to see what I did and the experiences I had. My Mum has written a diary every day since she was 13, and although a lot of the days are rather dull to read about, there are the occasional ones which are just hilarious! It’s great fun to hear what Mum was like when she was my age!

Anyway I have rambled on long enough, but I hope you enjoyed this post and are maybe even the tiiiiniest bit inspired to start writing or filming or photographing your life! Trust me it’s all worth it!

Psycle London

Hello hello

I know it’s been such a long time since I posted, but it is my new years resolution to really get going with the blog and stop slacking with it!

So my first post of the year is about this awesome workout I went to yesterday with my bestie. She has been desperate to take me for MONTHS, but we have both been so so busy and never managed to…until yesterday!

Psycle is a seriously high intensity, low impact workout which makes you feel amazing! I have never worked so hard and still kept a smile on my face! As soon as you start the workout the lights go out and the disco lights come on, the music is brilliant and the instructors are SO infectious, it honestly just feels like you are in a nightclub but you come out feeling so great!

I just wanted to highlight Psycle because I have been to hundreds of different workouts which have been great, but I’ve never left any of them desperate to head back there straight away! I can’t wait to get back there (hopefully this week). I really recommend it to anyone of any ability because you can go at your own pace at your own level and yet you still feel apart of the group.

Check out their website for more info here:
