Electric bikes, sun set and fish and chips…

What a day we had yesterday! We woke up nice and early, packed up our bags and left our hostel in Auckland only to be immediately drenched by the rain…never a good start! Luckily we left the bad weather behind and hopped on a ferry to Waiheke where the sun shined for us all day!
We had the most hilarious time on the coolest bikes ever; they were electric bikes which basically have a motor in them and you can turn it up the more help that you want, which meant when you hit a hill you just turn up the electrics and it pretty much does the work for you…the most ideal (and lazy) way of cycling…although they take a bit of getting used to, and going downhill with them is slightly terrifying if you forget to turn the electrics down!
We went round the whole of the island stopping off at a few places along the way, I have no idea how we didn’t get lost since we managed to get lost just on the test track!
We first stopped off at Stonyridge Vineyard for a spot of wine tasting in the most beautiful setting, we tried three different red wines, had a bit of bruschetta and a lovely walk around the vineyard. We then cycled on down to the most gorgeous beach, the sun was starting to set, and for some reason Elliot decided it would be fun to jump in the sea, even though it is winter and flipping freezing…although I do have to admit that is was fun!
We carried on cycling (well cheat cycling) around the island with the most incredible views and the sun setting around us, finishing off the day with a good old fish and chips and obviously some Dairy Milk chocolate!
A seriously perfect day and thank goodness we left the Auckland showers behind!

Bye for now
